Selling · We act for you

Want to sell your business? We'll sell it for you.

I'm Mark Warren, director of MAW Enterprise. We put your business quietly in front of our network of active buyers and the people most likely to want it, without listing it publicly. Your name stays private until a buyer has signed an NDA, and we handle the negotiation through to completion. Any size of business, any industry.

Low upfront, and we're paid when your business sells. From £1,495 to start, then a success fee on completion. See the fees.

Who it's for

Owners who want to sell, whatever the size. A £20m engineering firm and a one-site Pilates studio both need the same things: the right buyers, kept quiet, and someone to get the deal over the line.

  • Studios, gyms & salons
  • Cafés & local shops
  • Trades & services
  • Agencies & consultancies
  • Engineering & manufacturing
  • Distribution
  • Anything else, ask

Small is welcome

Smaller, owner-run businesses sell too. They need the right buyer more than a big one does, not less.

Kept in confidence

Buyers see an anonymous summary first. Your name and your business name go only to buyers who have signed an NDA, and only with your OK.

One person on it

You deal with Mark from the first call to completion. Not a call centre, not a listings site.

How it works

  1. A one-page summary

We write an anonymous one-page summary of your business (a teaser): what it does, roughly where, the figures that matter, why it's for sale. No name. You approve it before it goes anywhere.

  2. Off-market, to the right buyers

We put it quietly to our network of active buyers, then approach the people most likely to want it directly: competitors, groups growing by acquisition and investors. No public listing, so you find an off-market buyer without the whole market knowing.

  3. NDAs before names

Anyone who wants more signs a non-disclosure agreement first. Only then do they get your name and the full details, and only with your OK.

  4. Negotiate to completion

We check buyers can actually fund it, run the offers, agree heads of terms and keep it moving with both sets of solicitors through to completion.

Fees

Low upfront. We're paid when your business sells.

Expected sale priceTo startIf unsold after 6 months
Expected under £1mTo start£1,495If unsold after 6 months£150 a monthcontinued marketing, cancel any time
Expected £1m and overTo start£2,500If unsold after 6 months£250 a monthcontinued marketing, cancel any time

The band is set by the sale price we expect, agreed when you sign.

When it sells

5% on the first £1m of the sale price, plus 3% on any part above £1m. Minimum £10,000.

It works like tax bands, so the fee never jumps as the price goes up.

  • Sells for £400,000£20,000
  • Sells for £990,000£49,500
  • Sells for £2,000,000£80,000

The start fee covers the work to take it to market:

  • an anonymous one-page summary and a full brochure
  • research into the buyers most likely to want it
  • targeted outreach to those buyers
  • screening buyers and getting NDAs signed before your name is shared

The monthly fee only starts if it hasn't sold after six months, and you can cancel it any time. The success fee is only paid when the sale completes. No VAT is charged at present.

Your own solicitor's and accountant's costs are separate and stay yours. We don't give tax or legal advice, and we'll work alongside your advisers on those.

Not ready to sell yet?

Most of the value in a sale is made in the two or three years before it. Buyers pay more for a business that runs without its owner, has a team in place, knows where its revenue comes from and has clean numbers.

The Exit Value Plan

Make it worth more first

An Exit Value Review, £3,500 fixed, sets out each change: what it is, what it costs, how long it takes and roughly what it's worth to a buyer. Then help putting it in place from £1,500 a month, if you want it.

MAW buys businesses too

If yours is an established B2B business we might buy ourselves, you can talk to us as a buyer instead. No fee payable to MAW on that route.

Questions owners ask

Who finds out I'm selling?

Nobody gets your name without signing an NDA first, and we ask you before we share it. We don't contact your staff, customers or suppliers.

What do you need from me?

The form below, then your last two or three years' accounts. If you don't have everything, send what you have; we'll ask for the rest.

You buy businesses too. Is that a conflict?

On this service we act for you, the seller. Once we take your business on to sell, Mark won't bid for it himself unless you agree in writing. We never act for both the buyer and the seller in the same deal without telling both sides in writing and getting both sides' written consent.

What if a broker is already involved?

Tell us in the form. If you've signed with someone else, we'll say whether we can help and how that would work, before anything else happens.

Do I have to stay on?

Buyers usually want some handover. How long is your call, and it's agreed in the heads of terms, not assumed.

Tell us about your business

This is what we need to write your summary and start finding buyers. Only your name, email and the tick box are required. Skip anything you'd rather talk through, and ranges are fine where you don't have exact figures.
