Acquisition search · For owner-operators

The businesses worth buying are not for sale. We go and ask.

We find our own acquisitions by approaching owners directly, months before anything reaches a broker. You can have the same approach run for your sector and in your name — up to 400 owner approaches a month, every one screened on filed accounts before we write.

Sent in your name, from your domain. The owner hears from you, not from an intermediary. Approaches are first contacts to distinct owners; follow-ups are on top.

What is included, at every level

  1. 01Off-market sourcing — up to 400 owner approaches a month in your sector, in your name
  2. 02Every approach visible to you — the list, not just the outcomes
  3. 03Companies House screening on turnover, profit, staff and years trading before contact
  4. 04Owner conversations handled and qualified before they reach you
  5. 05Valuation and an offer range on anything you want to pursue
  6. 06The approach, the negotiation and the structure through to heads of terms
  7. 07Funding introductions where they are needed
  8. 08A weekly call, and a reply inside 48 hours, every week it runs

The terms, by the value of what you want to buy

Three-month minimum, then rolling monthly, 30 days' notice

The bands are set by the value of the business you buy — the price paid, not its turnover. All prices are plus VAT.

Not sure which band? Tell us what you want to buy and we will say.

What you receive

Month 1

A named target list

Companies in your sector screened on filed accounts, with a written assessment of each. You approve the list before anyone is contacted.

Every month

Up to 400 approaches

First contacts to distinct owners, in your name. You see every one, and every reply, as it happens.

Every week

A report and a call

What went out, who replied, which owners were qualified, and what we recommend next. Where an owner is open to a conversation, we qualify them and arrange the meeting for you.

These are the deliverables we control. Whether an owner chooses to sell, and when, is not something anyone can promise.

EXAMPLE · WHAT A TARGET ASSESSMENT CONTAINS

  • Company name, registered number and location
  • Turnover, profit and staff numbers from the last filed accounts, with the filing date
  • Years trading and the ownership structure from Companies House
  • The named owner or director we would approach
  • Why it fits your brief, and anything that counts against it
  • Our recommendation: approach, hold, or drop

EXAMPLE · WHAT A WEEKLY REPORT CONTAINS

  • Approaches sent this week and the running total for the month
  • Replies received, each one summarised
  • Owners qualified, with the notes from the conversation
  • Meetings arranged for you, with dates
  • Targets added to or removed from the list, and why
  • What we recommend for the week ahead

The two lists above show the headings, not results from any search. They are illustrative.

Who runs it

“I use this to buy businesses for MAW itself. When it runs for you, it is the same approach, the same screening and the same conversations — just with your name at the top.”
Mark Warren · Director, MAW Enterprise Ltd

One rule keeps this honest: a search we run for you is yours. A business we find in your search is offered to you first, and we do not approach it for ourselves or for another client unless you pass on it in writing.
